Getting Started

Study Guide Germany is a free service provided by the DAAD. All information, guidance and support offered through the platform are available at no cost.
Please note that neither Study Guide nor DAAD employees offer paid support with applications or related services. Any request for payment claiming to be connected to Study Guide is not legitimate. A one-time and free registration for a DAAD-ID is required to access Study Guide and to use the full scope of Study Guide as a digital personal assistant.

Without an account, users can search for degree programmes, language and preparatory courses offered by German higher education institutions. They can also view Study Guide Germany city profiles. However, setting up an account fully unlocks all features, giving you access to your personal Study Guide, a digital assistant to accompany you through your individual application journey. This allows you to save your search progress and manage a personal watch list of programmes. You can contact higher education institutions directly using an integrated contact form. Other advantages are explained in the Platform Features section.

To set up your account, register for a DAAD-ID via the login area by providing your e-mail address and a password. If you already have a DAAD-ID, you can also use it to log in to Study Guide.
Once you have set up your DAAD-ID account, you can provide information about your intentions for your studies, your language skills and other relevant information. This generates your personal Study Guide, an individual step-by-step assistant to help you navigate everything up to your enrolment at a German higher education institution.

In the future, the DAAD-ID will provide free access to all DAAD online services via meinDAAD.de. Currently, it can already be used, for example, to apply for most DAAD scholarships.

If you forget your password, you can request a new one with the „Set a new password“ function.

Study Guide Germany brings together a collection of useful tools to support your study planning, helping you stay organised and make well-informed decisions throughout.
Start by entering a few details about your study profile and personal situation – for example your intended degree, interests, language skills and the conditions that matter to you.
Based on this, you’ll receive personalised recommendations and a task list tailored to your inputs. Log in to start exploring degree programmes and build your personal watch list.
