DAAD Counselling

On Study Guide Germany, you have the possibility to contact the DAAD and request an appointment for a counselling session. You can do this right here on this site. The contact option will be displayed automatically based on your location. If the automatically displayed location is not correct, you can adjust it yourself.

Whether personal counselling is offered with or without a code depends on the DAAD location.
If your DAAD location doesn’t use Study Guide Germany for counselling, you simply book an appointment and receive personal counselling online or in person.
If your DAAD location uses Study Guide Germany for counselling, you can share information from your Study Guide profile in advance via a code. This can include your preferred degree programmes or language skills. After the session, you may receive another code that allows you to save the outcomes of the counselling directly in your profile.

If you generate a code before your counselling session, the advice you receive can be better tailored to your personal situation. By sharing the code, you provide selected information from your Study Guide profile, such as your language skills, saved degree programmes or the results of your eligibility check.
This allows the DAAD expert to build directly on your current progress and address your questions more effectively. It saves time and makes the session more personalised. When booking your appointment, it’s a good idea to check whether you should provide a code in advance.
After your session, you may receive a new code that allows you to transfer the outcomes of the counselling directly to your Study Guide profile. This helps you keep track of everything and plan your next steps more easily.

All DAAD locations included in the selection to share your information for a counselling session use Study Guide Germany in the counselling process. And more and more DAAD locations are being added worldwide.
However, if you have made a counselling appointment with a DAAD location that is not yet in the selection list, unfortunately you cannot currently use your information from Study Guide as a basis for counselling.
We are very sorry about this – we are already working on adding more and more DAAD locations worldwide.

In order to be able to use your information in the DAAD counselling session, we will send you a code to the e-mail address you are registered with at Study Guide Germany.
If the e-mail has not arrived in your inbox, please check the spam folder of your e-mail account. If you use multiple e-mail accounts, be sure to check the e-mail account you are logged into Study Guide with.
Of course, sometimes the e-mail may arrive a little delayed. If you have not received an e-mail after 15 minutes and have checked your spam folder, please resend a code.
You will need to take the code with you to your counselling session so that the DAAD can use your information.

Your e-mail programme probably doesn’t support this functionality. However, that’s not a problem at all. You can register directly here and redeem your DAAD code. Once you have logged in, you can find the “My counselling sessions” page by clicking on the profile icon. If you are using Study Guide on a mobile device, you can find it in the navigation under “My account”. There you can enter the DAAD code from your e-mail and transfer the counselling information.

If so, you most likely either did not enter your DAAD code correctly or your DAAD code is no longer valid.
The DAAD code is valid for 14 days. Check if it has been longer than 14 days since you received the e-mail from DAAD.
If this is the case, your DAAD code is no longer valid. You can therefore no longer use it to transfer the counselling information from the DAAD to Study Guide Germany.
But this isn’t a problem. In this case, contact the person at the DAAD who advised you and have them send you a new DAAD code by e-mail.
