About Study Guide Germany

Study Guide Germany is a free service provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Study Guide is your personal study planning assistant and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
The DAAD is the world’s largest funding organisation for the international exchange of students and researchers. Its members are German institutions of higher education and student bodies.
Designed for international students, Study Guide offers personalised support for those looking to study towards a degree in Germany. Whether you are just starting your search or narrowing down your options, it helps you navigate the decision-making process at your own pace. Users can instantly see which task comes next, along with helpful guidance, so all relevant information is available in one place at the right time. Study Guide supports users throughout the entire journey: from the initial search and application to arrival in Germany and successful enrolment at their chosen higher education institution.

Study Guide Germany is a comprehensive study planning assistant designed to support you step-by-step on your individual journey to higher education in Germany. Two integrated features help assess whether you are eligible to study in Germany: a check of your prior qualifications and an assessment of your language proficiency. The results guide you in planning your next steps. If needed, Study Guide provides access to digital preparatory courses, allowing you to prepare for subject-specific requirements or improve your language skills from your home country. In addition, Study Guide helps you explore degree programmes that match your qualifications and interests. For each relevant programme, suitable scholarships are displayed.
For some programmes, you can write directly to the institution, selecting a topic for their enquiry (e.g. “financing” or “admission requirements”). Study Guide then directs the enquiry to the relevant point of contact at the higher education institution.
You can also book a counselling session with the DAAD (only available at selected DAAD locations) and receive tailored, country-specific guidance.

Study Guide Germany does not submit your application to the higher education institution. Neither does the platform cooperate with commercial agencies. You will need to submit your application directly via the higher education institution or its designated channel. Information on where to submit your application is provided for each programme.
